The tyranny of beauty investigates the model of female beauty imposed by society through mass media.

The emphasis on the idea that the body can be improved to perfection transforms women in passive objects. Celebrities are set as example of ideal beauty, and are used to reinforce this process. To disrupt the current representation, I photographed everyday women as magazine covers. I collected covers from fashion magazines published in one year all over the world and displayed them in exhibitions in London including the Stolen Place Gallery at the Truman Brewery, the Apricot Gallery at the Rag Factory and St Margareth House.
