City, University of London

City University commissioned a series of animations to attract prospective students by offering them a taste of their course content. One of the modules was about the history of Clerkenwell, the London borough where the classes are held.

The client invited me along a tour of the area they organised for their students. Eight academics were involved in the decision-making process and felt uncertain about the medium, which was new to them. I made sure to listen to all requirements and planned several rounds of feedback before transforming the three hours tour into a two-minute video. I understood the diverse nature of their target audience - first year students from all over the world - and made an animation with diverse characters, an inspiring tone of voice and a mixed media style suitable to teenage viewers.

The videos were effective to increase student recruitment. All academics felt valued within the process and commissioned more videos in the following years.
