Open Democracy

The independent international media platform OpenDemocracy commissioned this animation to highlight the issues working children face. In their policy child labour cannot be simply banned, as this would jeopardise working children’s right to survive. This can be seen as controversial and openDemocracy needed a compelling way to put their vision across.

I worked closely with the client to establish the concept for the series and seeked their feedback regularly. I developed a unique visual style for this video and translated it into intro/outro sequences, idents, newsletter card graphics and brand guidelines openDemocracy is using throughout their media outlets.

My video has started a conversation about rethinking child labour. It helped putting together a series of publications filled with contributions from world-renowned children’s rights academics and practitioners.
