The Open Door Project

The Jewish Cultural Centre in London asked me to film the Open Door Project, where a group of teenage girls from orthodox Jewish and Muslim backgrounds got to know each other and themselves in a six months personal development programme.

It was the first time the students were involved in a project like this and I gained their trust by understanding and adapting to their way of communication and by handling religious differences delicately and responsably. I was as unintrusive as possible and made the students feel at ease about being in front of the camera.

In a world where religious differences are highlighted and intollerance is on the rise, I felt proud to witness these teenagers get to know people different from them.
